CIMAVE


The Intermunicipal Community of Ave is a Public association aiming the realization of common interests of its municipalities.

CIM AVE is a Level III NUT (Nomenclature of Territorial Units) with eight municipalities (Vila Nova de Famalicão, Vizela, Guimarães, Povoa de Lanhoso, Fafe, Vieira do Minho, Cabeceiras de Basto and Mondim de Basto), with a total resident population of  425 228 inhabitants (year of reference: 2011).

It’s a region with municipalities with a strong urban-industrial character and others, located in the north and east of the region, more rural (both the landscape and the economy).

CIM AVE’s Objectives are a) Promotion and management  of the economic, social and environmental strategy of the territory; b) Coordination of inter municipal investments of  common interest, c) participation in the management of programs to support regional development , particularly under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF/ QREN); d) Planning the public entities activities that have a intermunicipal  approach. 

The Intermunicipal Community of AVE, under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF/ QREN) and a contract with the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the North, has an important role in the management of structural funds for the municipalities of Ave region. 

The Intermunicipal Commnity of AVE employs 11 people.

CIM AVE has an important role in the regional development of the region. CIM has been dedicated to projects such as the improvement of the schools in the region, the improvement of road infrastructures, rural development and nature tourism, entrepreneurship and economic development, information technology and civil protection, among others.

The CIM do AVE, as an entity that, among others, aims to promote and manage the strategy of economic, social and environmental planning, is motivated to research and development projects that can stimulate the region and therefore to participate actively in the APSAT project
