Satellite technologies offer pioneering solutions in several fields of everyday life: transports, environment, leisure... Whether it is to implement new systems for smarter cities or to make rural life more convenient, everyone can now make the most of satellite innovations.
Research centers and companies from Southwest Europe (SUDOE territory) have already developed satellite technologies, which are ready to be used. That's why the Aerospace Valley, world competitiveness cluster in aeronautics, space and embedded systems, has launched the APSAT project in order to make these technologies available to local governments and to the great public, through a network of partners and skills.
The seven APSAT partners aspire to test a satellite application within a specific territory, a living lab. These life-size demonstrations will allow to observe the efficiency of a satellite solution, whether it is aimed at solving urban or rural issues.
The APSAT project is integrated in the SUDOE territory. This interregional cooperation is the strength of this project: from an analysis of past experiences, local communities and technical partner institutions share their skills in order to first define the specifications and then implement the selected innovations, creating this way a strong and durable partnership.
The APSAT project intends to prove the efficiency of innovative satellite services, allowing local governments to pursue their sustainable development objective: routing optimization, greenhouse gazes reduction, information collection to protect the environment, creation of new services... Citizens will therefore be able to benefit directly or indirectly from these new technologies, which will improve their daily life as well as their environment.
